Double win for Bicester Motion CEO, Dan Geoghegan, at Cherwell Business Awards 2019

We are delighted to announce that Bicester Motion CEO, Dan Geoghegan, has been announced as the 2019 Cherwell Business Awards Business Person of the Year and Overall Cherwell Winner, in recognition for his hard work with sleeves rolled up over the last six years at Bicester Heritage.

The judges of the prestigious Business Person of the Year award were looking for contenders who had significantly developed and implemented strategic business plans to achieve growth and profitability. In addition, the finalists must have exceeded customer expectations and raised their organisations profile.

Ellacotts, who sponsored the award, remarked that Dan Geoghegan was chosen by their judges for his tremendous work in setting up and developing Bicester Heritage and his vision for the future of Bicester Motion.

Charlotte Toemaes, Corporate Services Partner and Director of the Cherwell Business Awards, said:

“The way Daniel has founded Bicester Heritage from scratch in just a few years is nothing short of phenomenal. The extraordinary amount of work that has gone into renovating and developing the old RAF base, along with getting funding and not only having filled every unit, but also having a waiting list of companies wanting to be part of the complex is incredible. The plans for the future are very exciting and will add to the huge amount of investment that Bicester Heritage has already bought to the area.”

The other finalists were Georgia Geary, Director of The Mill Arts Centre and Paul Morrow, Chairman of British Bakels.

Charlotte continued: “This year we saw the highest standard of applications ever. It has made judging the Business Person of the Year Award incredibly difficult and we could have chosen many winners. However, we chose our three finalists – Daniel, Georgia and Paul – because they have done some incredible work in their respective businesses, are so passionate about what they do and driving their businesses forward and are recognised within their industries as game changers.”

In addition to Business Person of the Year, Dan was announced as the winner of the final award of the evening, the Norbar Overall Cherwell Winner, scooping the second award of the night and the most distinguished of the ceremony. The award was judged by sponsor Norbar Torque Tools with potential winners drawn from the entire shortlist of the evening’s guests and entrants.

Dan commented: “The Cherwell Business Awards stand out in recognising and celebrating business achievement each year;  not only was it an honour to be nominated for Business Person of the Year, but tremendous to win such a competitive category.  Being awarded Overall Winner from amongst such worthy nominees was a fabulous endorsement by our business peers, one which represents the strength of the team at Bicester Heritage and our success so far.”

“Our thanks go to all judges and sponsors for making the Cherwell Business Awards such a successful night, and we look forward to playing our role in the dynamic Cherwell business environment in the years to come.”

On behalf of the Bicester Motion team, we thoroughly congratulate Dan on his superb wins and for his immense dedication, continued clear direction and drive for the future of Bicester Motion.

The 8th Cherwell Business Awards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony took place on Friday 10 May 2019 at the magnificent Heythrop Park at Enstone.
