This unique event will build on the tremendous success of Flywheel, which joined the calendar in 2015, and The Classic & Sports Car Show, which drew huge crowds and more than £30m-worth of historic vehicles to Alexandra Palace in its inaugural year.
“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with one of the most exciting new events to join the classic calendar in recent years,” says Classic & Sports Car’s Group Head of Content Alastair Clements. “We look forward to welcoming readers and enthusiasts from across the UK and Europe to the fabulous Bicester Heritage for what promises to be a highlight of next summer for classic fans.”
The Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel will take place in June 2018 and will be hosted at Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire – the UK’s best-preserved WW2 RAF Bomber Station, which has now become home to a thriving classic car business hub.
EXPECT TO SEE
As the nation celebrates the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal Air Force, the skies above Bicester Heritage – the former RAF Bicester and Britain’s best-preserved WW2 bomber base – will come to life in the most appropriate fashion at The Show. The action-packed programme will include daily air displays from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Dakota, the Bremont Great War Display Team and the magnificent trio that is the BBMF Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster. Discover more here.
From the tyre-squealing action, as historic competition cars and motorcycles do their thing on the demo track, to the classic motor club displays and classic cars and motorcycles in the pre-76 parking area, the Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel presents decades of motoring and motorsport history in spectacular style. Discover more here.
In June 2017, the Live-Action Tank Arena put carefully-selected historics through their paces, gleefully churning up the ground. Visitors young and old will have the opportunity to experience what it was like to travel in an armoured personnel carrier, with tank rides available on both days. Watch this space for news of its return in 2018.
In 2017, military re-enactors including Bicester Home Guard, made regular patrols and Chalk Living History, re-enacting life in a Glider Pilot Regiment. In 2017 we were joined by the ‘Emma Gees’ from the Vickers MG Collection & Research Association Displays, who portrayed a WW2 air landing unit – and you can expect even more display action at this year’s show.
Brightwells is staging an auction of more than 100 classic cars at the Show. Hot on the heels of its successful sale of the Jaguar Land Rover Collection of Affordable Classics, Brightwells has been confirmed as the official auction partner for the Show and will stage an auction of more than 100 classic cars in Hangar 113 at the event.
Whether you’re looking to buy or simply to browse, it promises to be an excellent addition to the event for visitors – particularly those looking to take their first steps into classic ownership or to add to a burgeoning fleet. Sale viewing is on Saturday 23 June. Entry to the viewing is free of charge but visitors will need to purchase a ticket to the Show to gain entry to the Brightwells hangar.
The auction will take place on Sunday 24 June and entrance is by catalogue only. Sale catalogues admit two people to the sale and cost £20. They will be available from the Brightwells Hangar over the Show weekend, or a catalogue voucher can be ordered from www.classicandsportscarshow.com and redeemed at the event. All visitors to the auction will also need to purchase a Sunday ticket for the Show in order to gain access to the Hangar.
Brightwells is inviting consignments for the auction and those interested in entering a vehicle for the sale should contact Matthew Parkin at Brightwells – email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call: 01869 229222.
