Walking in to Kingsbury Racing Shop’s workshop is akin to taking a step back in time. Some of the finest 1920s vintage Bentleys in the world are likely to be found under the 1926 roof of the former RAF Engine Fitting Shop at Bicester Heritage, where they sit utterly at home in this evocative environment.
Kingsbury Racing will undertake a full restoration to competition or concours specification or carry out routine service work using high quality components and the finest attention to detail. The only items that give away the date of this period perfection are the Mac computer and the state of the art CNC machines in the tool room to the rear of the building. All are used to carefully reconstruct, machine and manufacture machine everything from crankcase to washer to the highest standard. Ewen Getley, owner and founder of the business, is a passionate racer and frequently campaigns in his ‘destructive test bed’ 3/4.5 litre Bentley, in which he learnt to drive as a teenager (because his father wouldn’t let him drive the Land Rover). Hugely successful on the circuit and a very skilled engineer, Ewen is open to discussing any Bentley related project. Kingsbury Racing Shop specialises in four-cylinder vintage Bentleys, but six-cylinder models are also more than welcome.
