StarterMotor CEO Dave Withers receives High Sheriff Award
Dave Withers, CEO of Bicester Heritage’s charity partner StarterMotor, has been awarded a High Sheriff Award for his contribution to supporting young people in the county by the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Mark Beard.
The annual Shrieval awards recognise individuals in Oxfordshire who have made outstanding contributions to the communities in which they live and work, in particular those who have made contributions to supporting young people.
Based at Bicester Heritage, StarterMotor aims to put the next generation in the driving seat, and is a firm favourite at the Scramble events, offering drives around the site to young enthusiasts and their families in cars from their fleet – with one of the StarterMotor Ambassador team at the wheel.
The charity currently has 30 ambassadors acting on its behalf.
StarterMotor has run a succession of school days, with more planned for this academic year, welcoming over 1000 local school children each year to the Bicester Heritage site. During the sessions, attendees are invited to explore future career options in all areas, from motorsport to PR and even mechanics.
Dave Withers, CEO StarterMotor comments ‘This is a great surprise and encouragement. We love what we do, especially seeing all the smiling faces of youngsters as they’re introduced to the world of historic cars and the award is icing on the cake’.
