Gauge 1 Model Railway Association’s 75th Anniversary steams into Bicester Heritage
The weekend of the 1st and 2nd of October will see Bicester Heritage’s Hangar 113 events space become home to a new kind of motion: The Gauge 1 Model Railway Association’s 75th Anniversary.
The show is expected to be the largest of its kind staged by the Association, featuring the best from the world of model railways and model engineering.
The 45,000ft2 of indoor space will see model railways from ‘N’ to 5” Gauge exhibits, including the only known UK working Gauge 2 exhibition layout. A range of traders, suppliers and traction engines will also be present during the weekend, with classic cars also promised to make an appearance.
“Using a large space like the Hangar 113 at Bicester Heritage is quite a departure for a relatively small club like ourselves but for such a special occasion we wanted to do something really special. The history of the site and its specific use for heritage transport and engineering industry made it ideal for our Gauge 1 steam engineered railways.
Gauge 1 goes back to the very start of railway modelling when everything was live steam.
We could not have put the show on without our sponsors and the amazing help of the Bicester Motion team.” Comments Stuart Hithersay, event organiser.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming motion of a different scale and sort to our ever-popular events space, Hangar 113.” Adds Daniel Geoghegan, CEO Bicester Motion.
