Reworked and road-legal Jaguar hypercar to make Scramble bow

Ex-film star car to be launched by CALLUM

The Jaguar C-X75 will hit the road publicly for the first time for the Scramble on Sunday 21 April, with the event acting as the reveal of a special project undertaken by CALLUM.

Previously only a concept model that never officially made full production, a C-X75 has been made road legal after one collector called on CALLUM’s expertise in individual vehicle approval.

It will be on display at the centre of the venue for the Scramble, commanding The Armoury.

The chassis in question has Hollywood provenance, too: it was one of the five cars used to film the thrilling chase through the streets of Vatican City in Spectre.

Ian Callum, co-founder of his eponymous design studio in 2019, led the project team at Jaguar in 2010 and it was built in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering. Rather than utilising the 1.6-litre four-cylinder, turbo and supercharged hybrid powerplant of the concept car, the stunt cars featured the venerable supercharged Jaguar V8.

Beneath the striking bodywork in a spaceframe chassis and strengthened suspension. CALLUM, which has successfully converted models such as the Aston Martin DB4GT Continuation car for road use, has modified the exhaust, added catalytic converters and indicators, plus changed the glass to gain approval.

A number of visual changes were also required, including removing the quick-release latches, while stylistically the finish of the carbonfibre has been enhanced.

CALLUM engineering director Adam Donfrancesco, who oversaw the project, said: “Stunt cars are arguably the true stars, bringing to life the legendary scenes that stay with us as car enthusiasts.

“So few actually survive the rigours of filming, preservation was key whilst meeting the legislation and it’s great we can reveal it to the enthusiastic Scramblers.”

Dan Geoghegan, chief executive, Bicester Motion, added: “Ian Callum and CALLUM have been long-time supporters and friends of Bicester Heritage, so we are delighted to be able to showcase its latest work on the C-X75. It is surely one of the finest chapters in his impressive back catalogue, and to see it on the road would be an unforgettable sight.”
